In the original plan, and the reason that all the radios had to be upgraded from previous models was so they had the capability to hold both the old system and the new system in them. So when the time came to switch over, everyone could switch at once. So I guess that is what we are seeing now. Get everyone operating on the non star bands, and at some point they'll flip the switch and presto change-o they will be rebanded.

Montgomery Fire dispatchers have been instructed to make that re-banding
announcement at the top of each hour for the next several days.
This morning I'm continuing to hear activity on all of the standard
talk-groups that I've been monitoring for years on my Pro-96. I don't seem
to be missing anything.
