[Scan-DC] Maintenance Note re Radio Shack / GRE Digital Trunking Scanners

I've been fiddling around with scanner programming in anticipation of Montgomery County's upcoming Grande Rebanding.  One of the things I decided to to was to check and upgrade the firmware on the radios.

I downloaded a file from GRE, and the first one I tried was the Radio Shack PRO-106 portable, and it wouldn't take the data on several attempts.  So... downloaded a file from Radio Shack, and it blurped right in.

Bottom line - apparently the firmware upgrades for GREs won't work on Radio Shacks - I guess the radios aren't exactly the same after all.
