[Scan-DC] UPDATE Re: Montgomery County Rebanding within 30 days

I do not have all the particulars with this but the comment about
moving users out of the 851-853 spectrum does not apply to Public
Safety. The Public Safety Systems that have already rebanded that had
any 866-868 frequencies have all been moved down 15MHZ to the 851-853
spectrum. I am listening to to 2 different trunked systems with the
control frequencies 851 to 853. The only thing that you have to watch
for once they actually complete the rebanding is that they may not
actually use the same frequencies (down 15mhz) I mean that they used
before.
In many areas they have used different channels or in some cases added
new frequencies and used maybe one of them as control channel. However
all 866-868 will come down 15mhz and of course the inputs also.

> Doug, do some more reading. 800 MHz rebanding has been in the news for years. The first phase is moving systems (frequencies) out of the 851 to 853 MHz spectrum. So systems that currently operate from 851 to 860 MHz are getting shuffled to 854 to 860 MHz. They get put into available frequencies that will not cause any loss of capabilities. Then the systems that operate in the 866 to 868 MHz range will get picked up and moved 15 MHz down to take over the vacated spectrum. NEXTEL is coordinating license moves. It is a nationwide plan that is easily googled. 15 MHz is correct.

I _did_ find licenses in the 823 MHZ range, however, which would be not 15, but _45_ MHz lower than the current control frequencies... so I suspect that the new control channel frequencies will be:

Needless to say, I accosted him... he was kind enough to give me a couple of minutes, and told me that they will be rebanding within the next 30 days or so... exact date is apparently not yet determined. He told me to subtract 15 MHz from the current frequencies of the four control channels and that should do the trick.
