Andy and Doug, you guys have been around long enough to know about CityWide
radio. It's been running here for more than 20 years, although I think Vito
(and maybe some old news dogs) are the only ones actively using it now.  I
was unit 575 (I think) until my King died 10 years ago! The radio system
used to be associated with Firecomm paging service.  

 

For a short while before that, we were all active on another paging service
(I won't mention the name) out of New York, owned by two brothers.  Since I
had to stop paging because I changed jobs, they got mad at me and when I
tried to get active as a dispatcher again a few years later, they wouldn't
return my calls!  Vito and associates also had a falling out with them and
started Firecomm.

 

All water under the bridge, I guess, since the pagers mostly went out in
favor of SMS texting.
