CW1 is a group of out New York who literally buffs calls and puts it out
over the radio. Look at NECW for the NE system.

Today I was playing around with my Home Patrol and had it scan the local
media frequencies. It stopped on a channel with a bank name of "Firebuffs,"
and a channel name of "Citywide Radio Ch. 1 Primary," which had some guy
reporting a fire somewhere (I did not catch it, and it was not repeated). It
was not a dispatch, but sounded literally like a fire buff reporting a
working fire. The channel is a conventional analog channel with a frequency
of 452.975 MHz. There is also a citywide secondary channel for Firebuffs
programmed into the HP, but it's the same frequency as the primary, so I
don't know why it's in there (maybe a different tone?).
Anybody have any more info about this frequency and/or any information about
who the "Firebuffs" are?
Happy New Year.
Cheers,
Andy
