[Scan-DC] Alan Henney making news

Nice job Alan.

I'm a supporter of the police, but I am surprised that they aren't more
aware of citizens' rights with regard to filming in public.

I used to do a lot of photography around the DC area (monuments, etc.), but
I got so tired of being harassed by police and security guards (usually
federal) who kept telling me I wasn't allowed to photograph this or that, or
set up a tripod here or there, that I gave up. One Sunday morning I was
shooting sunrise pictures on the steps of the Supreme Court. No-one there
but me and an unfriendly police officer who came out of nowhere and
threatened to put me in jail if I didn't pack up my camera and leave. And
this was long before 9/11 -- I'm sure it's gotten a lot worse.
