The reporter and photographer were very professional and took their time to
ensure they got their facts correct. David, did you feel that way too? 

Unfortunately the editors chose not to reference content from a number of
articles that were provided which showed where scanner listeners actually
aided police, and in one case saved an officer's life. The articles are
shown below.  Thanks to Alan Henney for providing the links to the proper
newsgroups.

I personally feel that in some cases the crooks have more to fear from
informed citizens than they have to gain from listening to police. Here are
