[Scan-DC] grundig g3

After doing a lot of internet reading, research, and comparing on the G3,
the G5, and the Sony ICF-SW7600GR, I picked up a G5 new in box off of
flee-bay back in April for $100. The G3 and the G5 are supposedly very
similar. I'm not really a shortwave listener, but wanted something for
hurricane season listening. I am very satisfied with it, but my opinion
should be taken with a grain of salt since shortwave is not my area. I
bought a Sangean 803 in the 80's for the same reason. I sold the Sangean
several years ago because of my lack of using it compared to its large size.
I couldn't find desk real estate for a large radio that was very seldom
used. On the other hand, the G5 lays "quietly" atop my 996 stack, and
wouldn't bother me if I never turned it on. I've also used it (the G5) as
an emergency back up for my alarm clock when severe weather is around.
All-in-all, I'm happy with the G5, and it's a keeper for me.

And, I'm a dummy... have downloaded the manual, but would still like to hear
from anyone here who owns one - thanks and sorry about all the messages!

maybe with shortwave too... I looked back through old scan-dc emails and two
years ago we had a lot of discussion about the Grundig G3, which The Shack
had on sale at the time for $90...

what's the battery power (9-volt, AAs, or what?), does it come with an AC
adapter, etc... I did a little looking just now, it got good reviews on RS,
but does anyone here have one, how do you like it, what's the answer to the
questions above, and above all, what's the tie-in with this Eton outfit - I
guess they are the same radio...
