WASHINGTON - In recent months, D.C. police have essentially shut down the public's ability to monitor their radio communications.
This situation was brought before the D.C. City Council on Friday.
There are public safety and first amendment issues at play.
A brewing conflict between what news departments in the city consider your right to know what's happening around you, versus the police department's wishes to keep their on-scene communications secret.
