It's that time of year again - The county fair runs from tonight, Friday through next Saturday.
Both Fire/Rescue and PD have a presence there.
The police are on 75 Kilo - or SEV1 depending on what you have your scanner set up as.
Fire Rescue is on 75 Limo - or SEV2 again depending on how you are set up.
The police call their dispatcher CP or Command Post. On the Fire/Rescue side they call their dispatcher Fair Comm.
The officers pretty much call out with their ID numbers, and tonight it seems there was MCPD from multiple different districts, Maryland State Police, Mont Co Sheriffs and Mont Co park police.
On the fire / rescue side they will have multiple pieces of apparatus there through out the week. So the units there will either call out w/ the name of the piece of apparatus they are riding on or the unit they are riding once they arrive at the fair. The Incident Command or IC is the person in charge, usually a chief officer. The other type units you might hear are BLS Cart 1, BLS Cart 2 (meaning basic life support) or ALS Cart 1 (advanced life support - meaning there is at least 1 paramedic on that unit). There is a Recon Cart - which is the fire qualified person who would respond first on a fire / smoke or rescue type incident versus just an EMS type call. There are also Bike Teams, which are EMT's or Paramedics on bicycles that are also available to respond.
Generally they go on line in the morning around 10:00am and then they shut down at night at 12:00 midnight. Generally the best listening times tend to be at night - that's when more of the action starts, especially on the police side.
There are other comms, they have security there 24/7 and they have their own channel, plus I'm sure there plenty of FRS type radios that can be heard, but I'm sure someone else on this list can give you that type of information.
If you're driving, avoid the area if you don't have to be around there, traffic will be heavy on all streets surrounding the fairgrounds for the next week.
