I supposed wrong. I should have kept reading:

"The five-cylinder engine is fully rebuilt, putting out 100 horsepower and powering the plane to speeds approaching 105 mph. It is all original. It has no electrical system. No radio. No modern electronics. It's just you and the stick, real seat-of-the-pants flying.

And that's what Briener likes about it."

Perhaps Biener will carry one, but the plane itself is radio-free.

YORK, Pa. - Gene Briener was 2 years old when Charles Lindbergh made the first solo flight across the Atlantic.
....

And the singular love of his life is Plane Jane - a 1929 Fleet Model 2 biplane, the first civilian trainer ever manufactured. He lovingly restored the plane to its original glory - a project decades in the making.

And on Saturday, he will take his last flight in Plane Jane.

I suppose the plane is equipped with a radio, solid-state even.
