The last time I asked, it was OK to do this in Alexandria. That was years ago, before 9-11. No telling now.

I recall a big brouhaha about Michigan laws; they were changed, I think. The reason I got an amateur license was to avoid being busted if I ever went to Michigan.

Any one know if it's illegal to have/be using a scanner in the car in any of the Metro DC area jurisdictions.
