[Scan-DC] In car use of Home Patrol

I posted a few poor-quality iPhone pictures of my installation with the Bracketron bracket, at http://www.w4je.com/hpbracket.htm

I also tried using it in my other car (an Explorer), and that was a little more challenging. The bracket can get in the way of the gear shift, and if I configured the bracket to avoid the gear shift, the weight of the HP kept me from configuring the bracket for optimal viewing angle, but I was able to get an acceptable arrangement using a slightly different configuration. Your mileage may vary.

How is the reception of the unit while sitting on the front dashboard using the standard provided antenna? I take it that the GPS unit works fine sitting on the dashboard (directly under the glass)?
