[Scan-DC] Alert Tone

I have been listening to that damn Montgomery Fire dispatch alert tone
now for over 40 years and I just can't take it anymore.  On my PSR600
it seems to be almost 3db louder than the dispatcher's voices. I know
this may be a stupid question but here goes:  Is there some way to
lower or eliminate it on my end? Turning down the radio's volume does
not work as I have to turn it down too low for my ears to hear the
dispatchers.  Sorry but I just had to ask.
