WHERE: Universities at Shady Grove campus
9630 Gudelsky Drive, Rockville

WHAT: A cooperative exercise which involves staging a full-scale response as

Office, the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission Police,
Gaithersburg Police, Rockville City Police, Takoma Park Police, Maryland
State Police, and University of Maryland Baltimore County Police will

Montgomery County Police want to alert the business and residential
Rockville communities near the Universities at Shady Grove that these
exercises will be taking place this Sunday. The parking lots would be
visible to those driving on the roadway that provides access to the parking
lots. Public in the area can expect the following: numerous public safety
personnel in uniforms and tactical gear, numerous public safety and tactical
vehicles, law enforcement officers maintaining a safety perimeter around the
campus, traffic officers on Gudelsky Drive and Traville Gateway Drive to
facilitate the flow of traffic. There will not be lights and sirens
activated; however there will be the sporadic sounds of simulated gunfire
between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
All participating agencies want to assure the community that this is a
training exercise, even though it will be conducted as though it is a
response to a real and critical emergency.
