Charles:

Try the Butel website to see if there is a newer version of your
software (updates are free). Gomert is pretty good about keeping
all the programs updated to run on current platforms.

You might also check out Freescan (Scannow.org)to see if it works
for your scanner (I think it does) if you want to try something
else.

I have been using Butel software to program my BC785D.  My
version is very stale (5 + years old) and I have moved to a Win 7
(64 bit) PC.

Before I do, does anyone have any suggestions on programming
software?
