I think the tower to which you refer is (or was) the Channel 50 TV tower. The MPDC 4th District station is also nearby and, if my memory is correct, it has a tower of its own.

DC Fire/EMS and police are both dispatched from the Unified Communications Center, located on the grounds of the old St. Elizabeth's Hospital on MLK Avenue in Southeast. This facility opened in 2006. I believe the old DCFD dispatch facility on McMillan Drive continues to be used as a back-up dispatching location.

There used to be a big tower in DC somewhere near Georgia Avenue and Missouri Avenue NW, that I believe was their main transmitter site... is it still there, and still the main site?

(I realize that the transmitter doesn't have to be at the antenna, of course, and that the control point isn't there for sure!)

Are both the DC fire and PD "headquarters" in the same place? Isn't on MLK avenue somewhere in SE?

I was at "fire alahm headquarters" years ago, when it was on McMillan Drive near the reservoir... they still had street boxes then! Is there anything still there?
