I'm bored, otherwise I probably wouldn't kick this in... two points.
One, I can understand where the off-topic posts, or things that one isn't particularly interested in, can be annoying, possibly more so to those who get the stuff in digest format (and I think Alan said more than half are on digest).
Two, I've found that it's handy to have multiple email addresses, and to dedicate one to things like listservs, notifications, confirmations, etc. Some of you may want to consider that approach.
Three (all right, three points!) - As far as I know, Alan handles this thing by himself. I appreciate the time and effort that it takes him - I've been involved in similar stuff for a different hobby and it's a real labor of love. He deserves three cheers - I'm sure all of us feel the same way, even though it isn't often voice. And personally I like his policy of dealing with only the administrative stuff and staying out of the content.
Enjoy the snow. (What the hell else can we do!?). Hope everyone is warm, has electricity, and enough food and stuff.
DK
