I've been a member of this list [and many manyothers] for quite sometime and
enjoy the normal banter about
anything related to Scanning. [There are many different aspects and we
LEARN along the way]
However if the list becomes a Notification System only, then I'm
out-of-here.
Scanning and Listening involves knowing Codes, Locations, Unit numbers, even
some interesting facts
such as Hydrant Colors [explains when additional Engines would be used in
Certain Districts, or for other cities with a Hi-Pressure Hydrant system]
not just Frequencies and Tones. And is not just for Police/Fire/EMS [Mil,
Taxi, Business, Marine, Malls, Sports etc]
Just my 2 Cents. The Delete key is a unique invention, rarely used by many.
I'm sure the list-owner has been watching and will jump-in when appropriate

Subject: [Scan-DC] Fire Hydrants and Other Off Topic Messages
Gang,
I've been holding out for a while, now, but enough is really enough.
This is a mailing list with a large number of subscribers. People
subscribe to this list to find out about scanning information in the
D.C. area. Many people get messages delivered to their BlackBerries
and other smartphones when a new message is sent to the list.
I know some of you are thinking, "if you don't like it, unsubscribe."
Wrong. If that's how you feel, you're missing the point. I like the
idea of this list, but let's try to keep limited to relevant topics -
like new signals/frequencies, breaking events, and perhaps a technical
discussion or two.
Please remember that this is an email list, and should not be treated
the same way as a Web forum. Send out only relevant, timely
information, and you'll make this list a great resource to the radio
community.
Charlie
