Thank you! I think we often forget about the delete button. I agree
there is a lot of un-necessary postings but there are also a lot of relevant
postings.

I found the message useful. I get the notifications too in Virginia but
what I found interesting in the message sent last week was the link to
Montgomery county's web site
(_http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/mcgtmpl.asp?url=/Content/PIO/emergency/snow.asp_
(http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/mcgtmpl.asp?url=/Content/PIO/emergency/snow.asp) ). This is a wealth of resources.
For example, the traffic cams which are often mentioned on this list when
there's a breaking incident near one of those cams.

I think the goals in these messages are to prompt people to get their
scanners warmed up for some serious action. I know I have been searching the
bands looking for private contractors who are snow plowing.

I guess we must next decide what is or is not scanner related. There can
be a lot of gray area. Wouldn't hydrants be if someone hears something on
the scanner about hydrants? Or knowing when the Boeing 787 is coming so
that they can program in tower frequencies? Or perhaps to search the band
to find a company channel? People are not thinking outside the box! I use
the list to learn about events to monitor such as JSOH at Andrews, various
open houses, and breaking events. Many members of this list have made
interesting finds and posted them. I think if you can justify it being
scanner related, then it's worth posting.

But what kills me the most last week was when someone complained about the
weather broadcast and then posted something non-scanner related a few days
later.

"THANK YOU ..." in response to the to weather statement being posted not
necessary.

And then a few days later, the same individual posted, "My question is ?
Everyone knew about this nasty weather heading this way. Why half of the
building here didn't bother to buy a shovel ?
I let one person use my shovel and never got it back. That's for being
nice"

Maybe this was your reward for shouting "THANK YOU" and not being
considerate for the member who was posting information as a benefit to other list
members.

Jeff
