[Scan-DC] Bearcat BCT15X for MD/VA use?

Arlington's analog trunked system is still operational and
simulcasting police dispatch and multiple fire channels. VSP is still
broadcasting simple analog in most of the state, even where STARS has
been deployed. Aviation traffic is all analog and will continue to be
for the foreseeable future. There is definitely still some analog to
listen to.

Out in the rural areas analog is still king. In Shenandoah County, for
example, everything is stll conventional analog, except for Shenandoah
National Park, which is digital. Out there, a BCT15 would do great,
probably for several more years.

One option is not to buy a scanner at all. There are thousands of free
scanner audio feeds available through RadioReference. They rebroadcast
a large variety of analog and digital public safety feeds. These feeds
can also be played on PDAs. On the iPhone there are several apps that
provide streamlined access to the RR feeds. I listen to my own
Arlington County PD feed on my iPhone when I'm driving and when I'm
out of town. It works great.

Cheers,
Andy
