I noticed the other day that RadioShack's weather radio/alarm clock is on
40% discount until January 2nd. I have been eyeing this one for a while.
It's a clock-radio style AM/FM/WX radio with SAME alert, BNC antenna
connector, deep blue display. It seems quite nice and gets mostly good
reviews on their Web site. It also has the 2m ham band for tuning the local
"Skywarn" repeaters. The normal price is $99.99, the sale price is $59.99.
It's #12-519. The sale is also online, but it does not qualify for free
shipping as far as I can tell (I can never figure how they decide which
products ship for free and which ones don't).

Here are the listed features, copied from the Web site:
Monitor local emergencies and inclement weather with this desktop weather
radio. It receives SAME alerts to provide you with local weather events and
it features Skywarn alerts from trained observers, ensuring you're always
one of the first to know what's coming. Plus, it also doubles as an alarm
clock, making it great for camping trips and other outdoor excursions.
Preloaded FIPS codes make it easy to program for your area
3 weather status alerts warn of dangerous weather conditions or other local
emergency conditions
Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) provides local weather and warning
events for your location
Enter local county/city codes into the receiver's memory
Set 16 levels of alert volume for daytime and nighttime use
Hear Skywarn weather reports minutes before severe weather is repeated on
NOAA WX radio stations
NWR-SAME weather radio compatible
Wake up every morning to an alarm tone or AM/FM radio
Dual alarm function lets you select 2 different wake-up times
Warnings and watches are indicated by high-intensity LEDs
As they say in the south, "I'm a-gonna git me one."
