[Scan-DC] local criminal using scanners

Perhaps using logical concept "channel" instead of frequency or TalkGroup gets around the problem.
Changing the subject a bit, a WaPo reporter did a feature recently about a young flyer at Potomac Airfield in southern PG. She quoted him addressing "Potomac Tower" when making a radio call about his intention to taxi from the ramp to the active runway. The problem is that Potomac Airfield has no control tower. What he probably said was "Potomac Traffic" on the CTAF. Reporters really do need to be more accurate.

While it is a faux pas to persons like us, "frequency" it is much easier for readers to understand using in fewer words. It is not a matter of being "sexy," it is one of being understood by your readership.
