Recently I've been hearing the term "possible AFRI" on Fairfax County's
Fire/EMS dispatch, related to ALS and/or BLS calls.  Curiosity got the best
of me, and, as many of you likely already know, AFRI stands for Acute
Febrile Respiratory Illness.  The symptoms of AFRI, according to
http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/guidance_ems.htm, include nasal congestion,
cough, fever or other flu-like symptoms.  AFRI is the code/term which the
CDC recommends public safety operators use when dispatching these calls to
make sure that emergency responders are aware of what they are responding
to.
