10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Funeral mass in Boston.
1:30 p.m.: Casket departs from Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts.
3:00 p.m.: Casket arrives at Andrews Air Force Base.
4:00 p.m.: Motorcade departs from Andrews AFB for U.S. Capitol. A map in
the Post indicates that the motorcade will take the Suitland Parkway into
DC. You will recall that Gerald Ford's motorcade in December 2007 took
the long way and went through Alexandria, as Ford lived in Alexandria for
many years. Kennedy's motorcade will go to the U.S. Capitol directly, I
believe.
About 4:30 p.m.: Motorcade arrives at the Senate side of the Capitol. It
stays briefly and then leaves for Arlington National Cemetery. I do not
know the route it will take. I-395 in Southwest DC is highlighted on the
map in the Post, but I'm wondering if the motorcade will go along the
Mall instead and cross Memorial Bridge. That's just a guess.
5:30 p.m.Private burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
