[Scan-DC] Antenna Question, Suitland Federal Center

I latched onto a pair of binoculars over the summer at a yard sale. They are not the best by any means, but for what I paid, I am delighted. I am on a ridge in Alexandria, and on Saturday, I trained the binoculars on a water tower some six or seven miles away in Maryland. Checking my highway map published by the District of Columbia in 1969 (excellent, you'll wish you had one), I determined that the water tank was in Silver Hill. Just south of the water tank is a building, the top of wish is absolutely covered by satellite dishes.

I went to Google maps and plugged in Silver Hill. It didn't take me long to figure out that the building with all the satellite dishes is building FB-4 at the Suitland Federal Center. See also the StationMasters map for the Suitland Metro stop. The building houses the Census Bureau and NOAA, so it be in the domain of the Commerce Department.

The water tank is eight-sided and housed in concrete. It is off to the northwest of Building FB-4. There is an antenna just to the west of it. A road comes off Suitland Road right there and curves into the Federal complex. Across the access road from the antenna is what has to be a solar array. Googling "Suitland solar array" produces this:

Are there any frequencies associated with all this worth a listen? There are even more satellite dishes between FB-4 and the solar array. Using "Suitland Metro" might get you to that locale faster on Google maps than "Silver Hill."

Thanks.

PS. If you don't own a pair of binoculars, they are a lot of fun. I mostly use mine for stargazing, but they are also great for spying on distant buildings with satellite dishes on the roof.
