It might have been a helicopter at higher-than-usual altitude.  It was
very difficult to gauge the height and, in loiter mode, the sonic
signature from a high altitude 407 might have matched what we heard. 
Tough to say, though.  I wish the binoculars had been able to resolve
more, but the object was very dark except for the unusually bright
navigation lights.
