[Scan-DC] Get set for Shuttle launch -- 259.7 MHz AM

The 259.7 MHz is direct from the shuttle, so after it's within our radio
horizon, probably a minute or so after launch. We won't hear anything before
launch as I understand it. I have never listened to those comms either.
Glenn, what and when will we hear anything? How much activity on this freq
should we expect during ascent?

Wish I hadn't left my pre-amp out at the house. But at this rate, the
Shuttle won't launch before I can retrieve it!

There are re-broadcasts of the Shuttle audio on some of the local ham
repeaters, but for me, it's a lot more exciting to hear the
direct-from-shuttle comms.

Cheers,
Andy

Thanks, I just programmed it into the 396... wonder if I'll hear anything
with the rubber duckie!

Where will the xmitter of this be - is it repeated? Is Goddard Space Flight
Center involved (in radio comms?)

Andy, are you hearing anything now? I'm guessing we won't hear anything
until the Shuttle is over the horizon?

Sorry for all the questions, have never listened for anything like this
before! Wheeeee!

DK
