Every day I snag comms on the MilSat freqs in the 250, 260 MHz area.
Most of what I hear are comms from Brazilian Hams who are "hijacking"
the satellites for long distance comms.
Occasionally I hear legitimate Military comms though.
My primary receiver for these comms is a Radio Shack Pro-43 handheld
scanner, with a Radio Shack center-loaded whip attached; the
scanner-with-antenna are mounted on a bookcase shelf near a window. I do not use a
preamplifier. That's it, and I hear comms from the sat every day.
When I first shared this information, I heard back from several other
fellows who do that same as I do.
I also snag the comms via an outdoor-mounted NilJon HD WB Omni, but the
Pro-43 with the center-loaded whip is working just as well.
