[Scan-DC] Scanner Recomendations

My "significant other" has one of the 1st generation RS (made by GRE) portable digital trunking scanners, I can't remember the model #... the display failed (just after the one-year warranty expired, of course!). She took it back to the RS store and they sent it out... I believe that it was returned to the store after it was repaired and she picked it up from there after they notified her. Whole process took less than 3 weeks I'm sure... I don't remember the exact time frame, but I do remember that it came back more quickly than I expected. It's worked fine since - seems to me the repair was only $50 (it may have been as much as $75) but she was not unhappy. Apparently there was an issue with the displays in that model. This was just about a year ago.
