[Scan-DC] Problems with VRE?

The VRE has two lines: Fredricksburg and Manassas. Both originate and terminate in Union Station, DC, but I believe they split in Alexandria or thereabouts. The Fredricksburg line runs on CSX I believe and Manassas runs on Norfolk Southern (I believe - I may be wrong on the name of the railroad). Either way, Amtrak does not maintain its own tracks south of Union Station. They share freight tracks and those are maintained by the host railroad.

MARC (the MD commuter service) runs their Penn Line on Amtrak NE Corridor tracks, while the Camden and Brunswick lines run on CSX tracks.

Neither VRE or MARC own their own track.

Do the VRE trains run on the same rails as CSX/Amtrak? Think I saw something on the internet yesterday about an Amtrak train that had problems coming from Richmond to DC (Train 99, maybe? I'll see if I can find it again). I just glanced at it, but the article said that there was plenty of food (also hopefully drink!) on the train and that everybody was snug... then I saw something else about that same train finally arriving several hours late... so maybe the VRE delay was a result of the Amtrak delay, which I think was weather-related... don't know whether it was snow, cold, both, or neither as I just skimmed the articles (at best).

Will see if I can dig them out again, they were probably on either Ch 4, newschannel 8, or WTOP's websites, those are the ones I usually hang out on.

This makes me think that, for some reason (broken rail?), VRE trains aren't running, at least on one line. The yellow line trains northbound through the Pentagon were packed. I had to wait for the third one to get on. Two blue line trains went by, but the crowds weren't as large on them.
