I'm not sure why MedAmBus, but Ambus is a common term used by the Military
for Ambulances. Those of us in the EMS Field try to avoid the term "bus" for
Ambulance because it helps perpetuate the stereotype that an Ambulance is
simply a speedy mode of transportation. Also, in most parts of the country
it is considered derogatory. Despite it's roots as an unskilled transport
service run by Funeral Homes or Police Departments, modern EMS systems and
highly trained Paramedics provide an equal level of care as any Hospital
Emergency Department for many emergency conditions, and often with more
personalized attention.
