[Scan-DC] Slightly Off Topic - DTV Converters

I remember past discussion (I think it was here) on the pros and cons of the
various DTV analog converter boxes; such as, some having analog pass
through, and some didn't.  If that discussion was in fact here, can someone
refresh my memory on which boxes were the "good ones"?  Again, my memory may
be playing games with me, but I thought there was also a brief mention about
the boxes being somehow potentially beneficial to a scanner (don't remember
how).
