I thought that one of the CECBs sold at Target ran off an external wall wart rather than an internal switching power supply. I'm not sure, but I think the output of the wall wart was 12 vdc.

I have a few little portable TVs that run on DC. A CECB that ran on batteries would mean I could go car camping with a TV.
