Note that anything in blue and/or underlined are links. The 197 is a RS clone of the GRE PSR-600.
Basically speaking the 2096 and 197 are similar in that they both use the proprietary V Scanner folder technology. After that, they couldn't be more different. Important amongst these differences is that while the 2096 could only be up/downloaded (cannot be computer controlled) and can use a serial connection, the 197 uses a USB connection and you do have the option of full computer control
