As reported there is a ship aground off of Gibson Island between the
Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Baltimore. They are off loading some of the cargo
so the ship will be light enough to float again. Some of you might be
interested in the following AIS site. AIS is a relatively new system that
requires ships to transmit their position via VFH marine channels so other
vessels can see them via an AIS monitor. There are several websites that
overlay the current positions over a Google map.
Once you go to this site select the Port of Baltimore and move the Google
Map down the bay south and you will see the symbol for the CSL Argosy which
is aground and the tugs that are assisting in the off loading.
