Jeff,

My USB cable for my VX-7R has a stereo connector (which is converted to the
proper pinout by another adapter), so it might work too.

I'm betting that one connector is ground (shield or ring), and the two other
connectors are a serial link, one to the radio, one from, with software flow
control.

Here's a reference that may help:

For the record I bought a Radio Shack cable on e-bay, and I should have
thought of this first....

May your holidays be wonderful!

Rick

Subject: [Scan-DC] Scanner programming cable

Does anyone know whether an ICOM OPC-478-compatible programming cable
will work as a substitute for the GRE/Radio Shack 20-047 scanner
programming cable? At least some versions of the ICOM cable
available on eBay have a stereo plug at one end and USB at the other
end, just like the scanner cable.
