This is from the Dept of FWIW
Use Motorola motrac ext speakers on most of my scanners including RS Pro-26
& a Pro-60. The motrac's speakers have alway made the sound clearer then
rigs internal speaker. Not so on -197. Speaker really exacerbated digital
audio affectations that appears on some transmissions. Swtiched to a GE
prog-line speaker and it didn't have problem.
Sidenote: Sure miss fiddling w/ motracs and prog-lines but must admit,
digital is getting interesting.

Good luck and please keep us posted... I also ordered a 197 that I'm headed
out to pick up now... have been using the Uniden radios so I will also need
to learn to operate the Radio Shack unit!
Just got back from Chicago last night, no hitches - hope everyone had a
great Xmas!
Regards,
Doug
