[Scan-DC] Is FCPD unencrypted?

Thoughts re an Apco 25 scanner - just a week or two ago Alan Henney mentioned a Radio Shack coupon that was good for about 30% I think - it was a one-day thing but remember, the "holidaze" are coming up and the retailers will be hungry!

Second, I've never found anyone who will give much of a discount on the Uniden radios, but Hobby Radio Stop http://www.bearcat1.com/ seems to have the best prices (thanks Mike Agnier!).

Thoid - I have a couple of the Uniden radios and am satisfied with them, but be warned, there is a steep learning curve as far as programming them.  (Get the Butel software, http://butel.nl)  Programming is equivalent to learning a new hobby and it takes time.  Even learning to use the functions of the 396 is significant, and you're gonna have to read 50 pages into the manual before you learn how to turn it on!  When I first got my 796 I was pretty discouraged... for three months!

Fourth - I'll be happy to assist anyone here with programming.
