September 25, 2008

STATE POLICE AVIATION CO-HOSTS HELICOPTER SAFETY SUMMIT

(Marriottsville, MD) – The Maryland State Police Aviation Command and
the Mid-Atlantic Helicopter Association will host a regional safety
summit tomorrow in Howard County tomorrow aimed at opening dialogue
about safety between helicopter programs operating in airspace in and
around Maryland and the National Capital Region.

                    The one-day summit is being held from 9:00 a.m.
until 3:45 p.m. tomorrow at the James N. Robey Public Safety Training
Center, 2200 Scott Wheeler Drive, Marriottsville, Md., 21104.  The
summit will focus on flight safety issues that impact all helicopter
aviators in the region.

                    The agenda includes a wide range of aviation
experts from law enforcement, television, private aviation companies,
the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation
Safety Board.  Speakers will examine best practices, accidents and
trends, risk assessments, news gathering operations, and flight
operations updates.
