First District Open House

When: Saturday, September 27, 2008
  12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.

Where: First District Station
  1451 Seven Locks Rd.
  Rockville, MD 20854


 The 1st District Station opens its doors for tours, demonstrations,
and activities for the whole family.  There will be demonstrations by
Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), a Maryland National Capital
Park Police horse-mounted officer, K-9 officers with canine partners,
and motorcycle officers.  A Maryland State Police helicopter and the
MCP Command Bus will be available for viewing.  MC Fire/Rescue
personnel will also attend.  Activities for children include an
appearance by Apple Dumpling the Clown, and a moon bounce.  Child
fingerprinting will be available.

 Everyone is welcome to attend, but residents served by the 1st
District are particularly encouraged to attend to meet the men and
women of the 1st District dedicating themselves to keeping the greater
Rockville communities safe.

Life-Safety Expo and Open House(s)Coming Up

October is Fire Safety Month

 The men and women of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service
urge you to take action, to keep everyone in your home safe. Several
local fire and rescue stations will have an ‘Open House’. Nearly 3500
attended a recent event in Germantown and on September 27, 2008 local
fire and rescue stations in Rockville and Bethesda will have similar
activities.



On Sunday, October 5, 2008 the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue
Service joins forces with the nonprofit National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) and the Boy Scouts of America in a major event  at
the Public Safety Training Academy, in Rockville to remind local
residents of their role in preventing home fires. Also on Sunday,
October 5, 2008 local fire and recue staions in Kensington, Sandy
Spring and Cabin John will conduct an Open House. On October 4, 2008
the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad will open the doors in
conjunction with the Taste of Bethesda.
