[Scan-DC] Help, Pro 96 display foofed

The significant other advises that the display on her Pro-96 (2 months out of warranty,natchelly) is showing all black vertical bars (altho it's still receiving).  She says she has reset the unit, to no avail.  I googled Pro 96 display and Pro 96 display black bars and got nuthin'.  Will take a look at the Yahoo group but in the meantime wanted to ask the list if anyone is familiar with this and/or knows how to fix it.  I have a Uniden BC396 so am not that familiar with the Pro, but another thing I may try is to reload the original programming or see if I can talk to the radio via the computer... any thoughts appreciated.
