Subject: [Scan-DC] DTV Converter Boxes
My station (WTVC Chattanooga / ABC) has been testing a few boxes, both
just to see how well they work in the market - not just with our
signal, but with our competition as well, and because we've been
getting a lot of calls from people buying the Magnavox units sold at
Walmart... and our conclusion is that the Best Buy / Insignia box
(which is the same as the Zenith DTT900) is the way to go. Seems to us
to have a better receiver and a few extra features available as
buttons (like aspect ratio switching) which, on the Magnavox, are
buried in menus.
I should mention that DTV in our market is currently made up of a
single VHF station, the rest are all UHF. Post-transition we will have
three VHF stations and the rest will still be UHF.
