There is talk of a P25 440MHz repeater being built in Laurel. There is some
P25 simplex going on 2M and 440 but that is about the extent of it. I have
been looking for other hams in the area to have some P25 QSO's with.

Point taken, John - and I know there are a few P25 machines in the Midwest,
but I wasn't aware that MOTOTRBO repeaters existed too - evidently there are
a few on the West Coast.

I do not think it would be against the law.
In Massachusetts there are several 440 P25 repeaters.

Mike,
OK, thanks. I know of at least two MOTOTRBO ham repeaters--one is in the
Los Angeles area, and the other is in the Chicago area. I'm sure there are
probably a few others scattered around the country. And I haven't heard
that it's illegal, since the mode is not encrypted and is open to all (as
long as one has the TRBO gear).

although they do exist in some places in the Midwest. I'm not even sure it
would be legal, to be honest.
