Now I have to look up the history... I remember many moons ago, my aunt and uncle were at our house in Silver Spring for the evening - shoot, must have been over 20 years because my cousin's kid is 20 and my aunt died when my cousin was pregnant... anyway, it was probably a Sunday holiday, maybe Easter or Mother's day, seems to me it was in the spring, and around 830 or 9 the house shook for an instant and there was a rumble... we all looked at each other and I said "earthquake", kidding... turned out it _was_ an earthquake.
(Another time, not long after we moved in there, back in the 1960s, there was a helluva bang and the place shook... something had blown up down at the Naval Ordnance Lab at White Oak a mile and a half away... I think I recently found an article about that in the Washington Pest archives...)
