[Scan-DC] A good portable antenna for BCD396T?

I would think that you should be able to get MoGo from Bowie. I can
occasionally get it way down in Southern Maryland below DC. However, if
you're trying to get Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority when you say
"mwaa", you're going to have to be close to National or Dulles for that one.
While I do get that when near the airports, or travelling up/down I-295 in
DC, I don't get much otherwise.

Hi Doug,
I am in bowie.
I am having trouble listening to mont co and umd.
Grant it, umd is a low power system but monto co should be a little better?
Are you using the stock antena on your portable?
I also have mwaa in my radio and have never herd any thing on it either.
John

John P, where are you and are you having reception problems? I'm curious
because I just got a 396 and am really pleased with it... I'm in
Gaithersburg and am picking up all kinds of stuff on the 396 that I'm _not_
getting_ on the 796 (admittedly indoors, connected either to an old
Lafayette ground-plane antenna in the attic, or from the "rabbit ear".) I'm

hearing Arlington. Alexandria, and Howard (800 meg trunked systems) easily
when outside or in the car in the Rockville area, and have never heard any
of them on the 796. I haven't yet heard anything from Frederick MD or the
MWAA system, but not sure whether I'm out of range or if my programming is
no good...

Regards,

Doug
