SHOWCASE ON NATIONAL MALL SPOTLIGHTS FIRE SERVICE ROLES AND TECHNOLOGY
Local Fire Departments and National Organizations Gather to Educate
All About the Fire Service
WHAT: The National Mall will be transformed into a showcase of the
American fire and emergency services displaying the technology,
prevention, training and educational components used by our nation's
30,000 fire departments. The Fire and Emergency Services Showcase on
the National Mall will feature the 2008 season launch of the
Firefighter Combat Challenge competition, the Home Safety Council
Education Pavilion, interactive and static displays of
state-of-the-art technology and over 20 pieces of fire apparatus.
WHO: Hosted by the Congressional Fire Services Institute
(www.cfsi.org) in cooperation with the Washington, DC metropolitan
area fire departments and the International Fire Service Training
Association (IFSTA).
WHEN: Wednesday, April 2, 2008
9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
WHERE: National Mall
Between 3rd and 4th Streets, Madison Drive and Jefferson Drive
WHY: Our nation's fire and emergency services respond to over 22
million calls annually. The showcase will educate policy makers and
the public about the vital role of firefighters and rescue personnel
and the role of the federal government in providing funding to train
and equip our domestic defenders.
