Thanks, Ed, yeah, I forgot about that... wonder if money was refunded to them about that under the original contract... the GPS for the police side never worked either, did it?
I've heard war stories about the past and present fire radio systems, the gist of which is that the county did the engineering (rather than the vendor), and that a lot of the engineering and applications were sort of piecemeal, rather than an integrated system, etc, etc... which is supposed to be why things don't work the way they should... my own theory is that there's probably some truth to this, and some other stuff involved, and that nobody really knows the whole story.
Speaking of radios, back to the scanners - two boop boxes going ("Boop-boop-boop-boop-boop, Box 29-23 being sounded for...") a couple of locals, a bunch of up-county rescues, and some PD activity here in da homie-hood...
