for Emergency Communications Equipment

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, County Fire Chief Tom Carr
and U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski will announce a $1.3 million federal
grant to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.  The
Assistance to Firefighters grant award will fund critical emergency
communications equipment to enhance firefighter safety and operational
accountability, in addition to improve direct dispatch capabilities
and first responder communications across jurisdictions in the
Washington Metropolitan area.

The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service will provide static
displays of radio equipment, pagers and the associated components
similar to those to be funded by the grant.
