The most interesting thing about this is that this same building almost
burned down due to a multi-alarm fire somewhere around 35 years ago. I grew
up in Mt. Pleasant, and walked up to watch that fire after hearing about the
9th or 10th fire truck running up Irving Street. IIRC, the first fire was
as bad as the pictures of this fire, and also happened about 10 o'clock at
night during the cold of winter. I remember because the firefighters would
turn the hoses on those of us watching every so often as a form of crowd
control (not full flow, but more like a constant rain). I wish there were a
way I could go back and look up that fire, because I would bet that it was
no less than 3 alarms. Just remembering the days growing up in Mt
Pleasant... I was scanning then, but only had MPDC in my 4 channel Pro-4...
might have been the Pro-6, which ever one did UHF (4D, 4D-Tac, SOD, CW-1).
